OK, so you’ve decided on the name of your show, and told me the CONCEPT behind it, the INTENDED STATION and about your TARGET AUDIENCE. You'll also have created a RUNNING ORDER and a CONTENT PLAN for your proposed show.
Obviously you’re going to present it but have a look at the criteria you're aiming at. You'll notice that in the merit column it says "Appropriate suggestions are made for presenters / DJs that relate to the proposed production". Obviously, if you wanted a station to carry your show they'd want to know who would be presenting it - by completing this session you'll give yourself a chance of hitting that Merit criteria by demonstrating that you're aware of the radio DJs/broadcasters who are out there and have made an informed decision, based on the planning documentation you've created so far, as to which of them would be ideal for your show.
Do this part as follows.
1. Open up a new blogpost. Call it 'RADIO PLANNING - THE IDEAL PRESENTER.
2. Add a subheading 'POSSIBLE PRESENTERS'. Name at least two or more presenters/djs who would be ideal to present your show. They don't have to work for the station you've suggested, don't HAVE to be BBC DJs (if you've suggested a BBC Station) and don't have to be commercial DJs (if you've suggested a commercial station). Have a think about what existing broadcaster or DJ , having a look at the concept of your show and the music you're going to play, would suit your show's remit and be a good presenter? List them.
3. ADD TO THIS PART BY PROFILING EACH OF YOUR POSSIBLE PRESENTERS.
With each suggested presenter, give me a bit of biographical detail (wiki will be good for this) about them, tell me what they've presented in the past, and what they're presenting now. What stations are they currently working for - are they working for the 'Intended Station' you've already identified? Are they working for a similar station to the one you think would be ideal for your show? How does their experience make them suitable to present YOUR show? Why would they appeal to the target audience you've identified (look back on your post about this to remind yourself of the kinds of listeners you're trying to reach)? What kind of presenter-style do they have? Relaxed/ chatty/ serious/ fast/ manic/ funny?
4. Finally, add the subheading 'MY CHOICE', choose one of the names and add them to the end of the sentence 'I think the ideal presenter for my show would be . . . ' Then add one more line saying why you've opted for them over your other choice(s).
